Informal Womoz Event 😉 @CUET
The first session ever conducted by The CUET Firefox Club was “The Informal Womoz ;)” session, it was a First ever WoMoz event in Bangladesh. Mozilla and WoMoz intro from CUET FxClub, led by me (FSA Maliha Islam) with the support of Mozilla Bangladesh Community for the girls university; at the girls dorm after dinner. Anyone can speak and poke in between. No dress-code, no food,no formality rather taking their opinion on why should women contribute open source and techs. More of a discussion and get to know the need and way of involving more women into Technology, in our Bangladesh context.
Ladies spontaneously participated in the womoz and Mozilla intro session throughout the session of two hours starting from 8:30-10:30 PM. There were almost 40 attendee including 4 FSA and womoz (Me, Naima Sultana,Sumi Mim,Saiba Nazah). The session was arranged by CUET Firefox Club with the help of Mozilla Bangladesh which was conducted by Womoz and FSA Maliha Islam and she was assisted another recently joined Womoz and FSA Naima Sultana,Sumi Mim,Saiba Nazah along with three cheerful volunteers Nayla Tasnim, Sharmin Sultana, Afsana Sharmin . Our Teacher Ayesha was present there to encourage the participants.
On the first portion of the session there were an inauguration of CUET womoz group then Mozilla and Womoz was introduced in Mozillian style.
Then we emphasized on the necessity of women in techs by looking upto our role model Mitchell Baker.
later on the session was continued on emphasizing on ways of contributing to Mozilla, why they should join the tech and the benefits of it. The session came to an end with the interested session attendee’s field registration and mailing list subscription fiesta, celebration of international computer science week, basics of web development, a bit informal chit-chat with chips,biscuits and photo session with their adored Womoz logo drawn by Maliha Islam.
